The gifts are all unwrapped and many are beginning to take down holiday decorations while feasting on those leftovers, preparing for New Year's and continuing family traditions. Before you dispose of your Christmas tree and holiday cooking oil, don't forget that the Town of Queen Creek makes it easy to recycle these items.

The town offers a free, self-serve Christmas tree drop-off now through Monday, Jan. 9, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. The self-service drop-off area is located just north of the town’s Field Operations Facility, at 19715 S. 220th St., and can only be accessed via Ryan Road.

Town trash and recycling customers can also schedule a bulk pick-up for their tree at no additional cost by visiting QueenCreekAZ.gov/BulkTrash.

The holidays are also a great time to take advantage of the town’s free, year-round recycling program for used cooking oil. Cooking oil can create backups and overflows if poured down your drains. Throwing it away can cause contamination or create a mess.

Recycling your cooking oil saves your drain and creates clean biodiesel fuel. Collection grates are available year-round at the Queen Creek Recycle Center, at 22638 S. Ellsworth Road, and Fire Station No. 2, at 24787 S. Sossaman Road. Visit QueenCreekAZ.gov/CookingOil for more information.
