Shoppers in Bournemouth rushed to get a hold of the popular Prime hydration drinks at Aldi on Thursday.

Aldi announced a limited stock of the drinks, founded by YouTube superstars KSI and Logan Paul, would be available across the UK.

Anticipating its popularity, the store limited each customer to one of each flavour that was available; lemon and lime, ice pop and blue raspberry.

The drinks sold out in rapid time, with stocks being snapped up within minutes of the stores opening.

Jennifer Dix queued from just after 7am, to ensure she and her son could get their hands on the drink.

“Me and my son got up at 7am, we both set our alarms and made our way down to Mallard Road,” she said.

“We were first into the store, I got three, my son got three. People were starting to push, but the staff at Aldi were absolutely fantastic, they were really professional and polite.

“By the time we left the store at just after five past eight, it had sold out. Come 8am the queue was actually going all the way back to near enough Smyths.

“There were people in that queue that wouldn’t have got any.”

Ric Obiajulu was another of the lucky shoppers who managed to get a hold of just one of the bottles this morning, but he had to go to two stores, after missing out at Mallard Road.

“It wasn’t really mad or frantic, but I couldn’t find them anywhere. I asked the guy where’s the Prime, and he said it’s just literally sold out, they’ve all gone,” he said.

“I was like, what a nightmare.”

“There were a few other people wandering around the same as me, walked in at the same time and we all joked to each other, what are we doing for our kids, half of us still in our pjs with tops on, you could tell it was pretty early in the morning.”

Ric and another shopper then thought they would then try their luck at the Holdenhurst Road Aldi.

“There was this person who, at the same time as me, had been unsuccessful, and I saw that she was behind me, but she was obviously pedal to the metal trying to get past me.

“I jumped out of my car and ran straight into the store, I saw a kid holding Prime and asked where it is, like a desperate teenager.

“There was literally one bottle of the lemon and lime left, and I just grabbed it.”

The search for the drink provided some excitement for a Thursday morning for Ric, saying that it was “a bit of an adrenaline rush”, but it won’t be something he’ll be doing again.

“My son wasn’t overly impressed, my daughter quite liked it,” he said.

“They’ve had it now, I won’t be running around early morning to try and get more Prime.”
